Hi!  I am Mrs. Jane Reed and I am the Media Aide at Jefferson Elementary School.  I have been a part of Marion CUSD#2 since 1993.  I have 3 daughters that all attended school and graduated from Marion High School.  I started working for as a full-time employee in 2003 & have been at Jefferson for over 10 years.  One of my favorite pastimes is reading and working with children, so I thoroughly enjoy assisting the students and teachers at our school to find the "just right book" for them!

The Media Center class schedule runs every other week.  Each class, K-5 come to the Media Center for 40 minutes of structured library time.  During this time, students participate in story times, learn about library skills, or participate in activities that support the books we read or the skills that we are learning.  Students can visit the Media Center any time during the school hours of 8:00 a.m..-3:30 p.m.. to return and check out a new book, take an AR test or use one of the computers for research.

The Jefferson School Media Center has approximately 8,000 books for the students (Pre-K-5th) and staff to check out.  Our collection consists of a wide variety of reading levels, fiction and non-fiction titles.  Our collection is comprised of many popular titles that all of our students enjoy to check out and read.  Updating our collection is a top priority every year.  If a student or teacher has a recommendation Mrs. Reed is willing to add it to her ever growing wishlist!

Our online card is called Destiny.  Destiny is part of Follett which is a leading provider of educational technology.  Destiny  is where you can search our collection of books to determine if  we own a particular book that you would like to read, check if a book is checked out or are interested in browsing our collection by subject matter.  Our students start to learn how to use this online catalog when they are in third grade.
