My name is Teresa Grant. I recently relocated to Marion after teaching out of the area for several years. I obtained my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education at SIUC and quickly became a substitute teacher in five local districts. During the 01-02 school year, I was chosen by SIUC to be a Teaching Fellow in Carbondale Elementary District 95. In 2003, I completed a Masters Program in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on reading. The following year, I was hired as a full-time Title 1/Reading Teacher in Carbondale Elementary District #95. During the seven years in the district, I also taught in fifth and third grade self-contained classrooms. In 2007, I moved to Alton, Illinois and was assigned as a full-time Title 1/Reading Teacher. In 2009, I received a Masters in Education Administration through McKendree University. I moved back to Marion in 2018 and was hired as a Reading Specialist at Adams School. During my first year in Marion, I obtained another Masters Degree from SIUE to become a literacy specialist.
My favorite part of teaching reading is seeing the tremendous growth that students make each year. I’m very excited to share my love of reading with the students at Adams School.
