Mrs. Julie Maze

Julie Maze is a native of McLeansboro, Illinois, and the daughter of a retired band director and elementary teacher.  She is a vocalist and plays piano, guitar, trumpet, and banjo.  Mrs. Maze and her husband reside on a cattle farm with their horses near Goreville.
Mrs. Maze received her Bachelor of Music Education Degree at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.  At SIU-C, she was active in many music ensembles as well as being the student director for the Southern Illinois Children’s Choir.  Upon graduation, Mrs. Maze taught band and choir as well as the music appreciation, music fundamentals, and American music courses at Rend Lake College.  She also implemented a youth music program that featured the Kindermusik curriculum while at RLC.   She spent several years at Mt. Vernon Twp. High School serving as their Vocal Music Director where she taught Varsity Choir, Girl’s Chorus, Concert Choir, and served as rehearsal accompanist and vocal coach for their Operettas.   Soloists, ensembles, and choirs earned several superior ratings at contests under her direction.  Mrs. Maze also served Johnston City CUSD#1 as their District Music Director where she taught band, chorus, and general music for grades 3-12 before coming to Marion.  She is very grateful to be a part of the music program at Marion Junior High as she teaches the 6th Grade Music I Classes and co-teaches the 6th Grade Band!
