The media centers of Marion CUSD #2 were awarded a Library Services & Technology Act grant by the Illinois State Library.The grant project, STEM + Reading Initiatives = Future Ready Readers, will help students read critically, for enjoyment, and become lifelong readers.To support the addition of Makerspaces, STEM groups, and Robotics teams in the libraries and schools, fiction and non-fiction titles have been purchased on STEM based topics.To enhance the multiple reading initiative programs, Million Words Challenge, Lincoln Award, Monarch Award, Illinois Reads, promoted at the libraries, newly released fiction and graphic novels have been purchased.Both of these sets of titles will be used by CUSD #2 patrons for reading enjoyment and accessing information to increase their success in and outside of the classroom.
