Math Interventions
  • All students in grades K-5 are assessed three times throughout the school year in math fluency and application of math concepts.  Two of our district's Math Specialists travel between Lincoln and Longfellow to provide math interventions and classroom support in Math for students in grades 2-5.  They review the assessment data and work with classroom teachers to closely monitor students' grades and classroom performance.  If a student falls below established expectations throughout the year, our Math Specialists provide additional instruction to support their learning.  This instruction does not replace their classroom instruction but provides another layer of support for the student.  Our Math Specialists use research-based interventions that focus on the needs of the students.  This more individualized instruction takes place within a small group setting in the Specialist's classroom and progress monitoring occurs bi-weekly to help measure each student's progress.
