Hello!  Welcome to Washington School!  My name is Melissa McMurtry and this will be my 24th year of teaching.  Twenty-one of those years have been in second grade, which is by far my favorite!  I have also taught 1st Grade, Kindergarten/1st Grade Reading Groups, and I was a substitute teacher for one year. I was born and raised in Marion, and I love being a Marion Wildcat!  Teaching children is my passion, and I couldn't imagine doing anything else!  

     I have been married to my best friend, Danny, for 23 years.   We are blessed to have two precious children.  Dustin will be a Sophomore this year, and Madalyn will be a 7th grader.  Outside of school and spending time with my family, I enjoy playing the piano, singing, going to church, and reading.
